Whether you want to add a new sink to your camping trailer or you just want a more comfortable place to rest your head, a DIY caravan modification can be a great way to save money while improving the functionality of your RV. Fortunately, most modifications are easy to complete and require only basic toolkit items. Adding a new sink to your caravan can help you get the most from your camping trip by providing added convenience and ease.

If you’re a handyman, you could also fit a tool box. You can find lightweight steel tool boxes and put them under the A-frame. Another popular mod is adding an internal shower/toilet. This can save you a great deal of space, but it adds weight and can require some carpentry skills. If you’re up for the challenge, you can even install a bathroom yourself! However, you should keep in mind that this type of modification isn’t for everyone.

Peter Sluyters made a step for his Trackabout by using a ply box, which he previously used for pots and pans. Its height made it the ideal step. Peter fitted a non-slip material over the top and secured it with rope handles and an elastic loop on the lid. The finished product is a great addition to Peter’s caravan. He even included a stepladder, which is always useful to have in the caravan.
